Companies unite to provide meals for affected workers
MIAMI (Feb. 1, 2019) — In the wake of the country’s longest government shutdown, Master ConcessionAir and Cheney Brothers partnered to provide complimentary box lunches to federal workers at Miami International Airport (MIA).
Employees of the Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Federal Aviation Administration and United States Department of Agriculture were all invited to pick up a free boxed lunch Jan. 19 at the Chili’s Too, To Go in Terminal G. Though the shutdown ended, the companies continued to support employees as they got back on their feet with another free boxed lunch Jan. 26. In addition to the free meals, MCA doubled its employee discount across all its units in MIA to 20 percent.
“We’re so grateful to all of the federal agencies that continue to work and protect the safety of everyone who is traveling,” said Peter Amaro Jr., CEO of MCA. “We are a community here, so we wanted to show our appreciation for all of their efforts and commitment to keeping the airport running smoothly.”
Even when they were not being compensated during the shutdown, federal agency employees were expected to continue working. Without their dedication, the safety of airports would be at risk.
MCA, a leader in the airport dining and retail industries, has a longstanding relationship with the Miami International Airport and many other airports across the world. The company has a tradition of providing support during times of crisis and looks to continue these efforts in the future.
