Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport recently announced it would be adding a bunch of new concepts to its roster. Sergio’s Cuban Restaurant, which specializes in healthy Latin American fare, is opening its doors on April 1 in Terminal One.
Operating since 1975, the family-run woman-owned Cuban restaurant (mother and daughter team Elsa Rocha and Blanca Cabrera purchased the business it the early ’80’s) has several locations spread throughout Miami. The fast-casual concept serves authentic Cuban food in addition to a healthy menu, with items catering to paleo and low-sugar diets. While the menu for the airport concept is still being finalized, expect to see a selection of bowls with rice, beans, and traditional Cuban dishes like vaca frita and pork chunks.
MIA to debut Mojito bar, wine bar and more
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport plans to roll out dozens of new dining options through 2017 as part of its massive re-do — Air Margaritaville, Tarpon Bend Food & Tackle, serving fresh local fish and other entrees sought after in the restaurant’s downtown Fort Lauderdale location, as well as Sergio’s with its traditional Cuban fare. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport’s International Terminal food court won best Airport Food Court at The Moodie Report’s 3rd Annual Airport Food & Beverage Awards and Conference on Oct. 2. Hartsfield-Jackson’s International Terminal opened in May 2012 and offers high-end retail and dining options for passengers. The selection process was conducted online via a third-party firm, which receives votes from different areas of the industry. This year Master ConcessionAir was selected as the “Best DBE Operator” out of 31 nominees from around the nation. One of the comments made by a voter, as to why MCA won the award was, “A managerial staff which is both responsive, receptive and listens to airport staff recommendations”, and another simply said, “Excels.”

During the 100% Pure Miami Service,an MCA employee ,Lydia Quintana, boasts two 100% and one 96% score on her last three 100% Pure Miami Service evaluations at the pre-security Time4Shades store in Central Terminal, Miami International Airport. Lydia opened the Time4Shades MIA location for Master ConcessionAir (MCA) in December 2010 after just a few months at another MCA concept and continues to deliver excellence three years later. Orlando International ranked among top five domestic airports
Orlando International Airport ranked among the nation’s top five domestic airports, according to Travel & Leisure Magazine’s latest “World’s Best Awards” survey.
From Dec. 2, 2013, to March 31, 2014, magazine readers were invited to vote for their favorite airport based on several criteria involving logistics and convenience. In the airport category, voters were asked to assess the quality of location/access, check-in/security, restaurants/food, shopping and design with an option for either business or families.
Orlando International’s overall ranking rose from 11th in 2013 to fifth in 2014.
“Being voted one of the top five airports in the nation is proof that our goal to be the best airport in the word is not out of reach,” said Frank Kruppenbacher, chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
Orlando International Airport is the second-busiest airport in Florida with 35 million annual passengers. The airport has 18,000 employees and generates $26 billion in direct and indirect revenue.

The location features the full line of Seattle’s Best Coffee and non-coffee beverages, including lattes, mochas, hand-shaken cold brewed coffees and its JavaKula blended beverages – the company’s signature blended beverage line.

Airports from the United States, England and Denmark dominated the Moodie Report’s third annual Airport Food & Beverage Awards, which were announced Wednesday evening in Dubai. Among the winners was HMS Host for best food court in Concourse F in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Who buys luggage at an airport?
Whether it’s a quick business trip or a two-week vacation, most every traveler leaves for the airport with a carry-on bag or suitcase to be checked that is filled with clothing, toiletries and other items that might be useful on the trip. Eat Local Even When You’re Leaving Town
Master ConcessionAir employee, Ulrick Barreau, does something great! While busing tables one night, Ulrick came across a something that does not happen quite so often. A customer had left a money clip which contained about $1,500 after a meal and left once he was done. After noticing what he had found, he immediately found his manager and told him that the customer had left his money. Later on, the customer came back once he noticed what he was missing and retrieved it with great ease. This takes great integrity which Barreau portrayed and even made Miami channel 7 news.
